Every once in a while I get to read a book that stimulates a profound mental shift in me. A book that triggers a new form of reasoning. I think it happens to you too.
This time I don’t want to recommend a book to read. Instead, I want to make you realize what a mistake it would be not to read it.
I had the pleasure of taking Scott E. Page’s course on Model Thinking on Coursera a few years ago and was thrilled. When I then read the book I was absolutely blown away by it.
I personally find it wonderful. This book is a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration but what I love is that it pushes you to think differently, to stimulate lateral thinking.
I think this book is absolutely useful for anyone who has to deal with data on a daily basis and especially those who have to use it but really, it’s a useful book for everyone.
This book explains how to reason with data and stimulates you to think in a different and new way. Different mathematical models are discussed but also different reasoning logics and approach to data. It helps you understand how to extract information from data to make it work for you and for you to exploit it.
A good base of mathematical knowledge is highly recommended but it will still be useful even for those with non-technical/scientific backgrounds.
Thanks Scott Page !
I’m already on my second read but I’m not ruling out a third 🙂
Definitely one of my favorite books ever.
